NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) Officer Tony Borowiec rescues a cat that had to be cut out of the wall of a St. George apartment building. [April 15, 2008; Advance photos/Ron Romano]

Awkward, though – tenants in that building are not allowed to have pets.

Asked if the company would try and evict Stenislas after her pet was discovered in a very public way, [a person answering the phone at the rental office] said “Oh, no. But maybe this will remind people they’re not supposed to have animals.”

Reached later, another representative from the company declined to comment further.
