ST. PETERSBURG, FL—St. Petersburg Fire Rescue detectives are investigating a house fire they say was intentionally set this morning. Firefighters responded to an 11:30 a.m. call and found a one-story wood frame home … with heavy smoke seeping from the attic vents and windows. They forced their way into the locked, smoke-damaged home and kept the fire from spreading past a bedroom, officials said… A smoke alarm alerted neighbors, who called the fire department. A mom and two kids, ages 6 and 10, were not at home at the time. Firefighters rescued a kitten, which was taken to a veterinarian. No details have been released on how the fire was set.
